The 15-acre city park features playground equipment, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a pond, a pool, and a train (seasonal) for the kids. The park also has authentic buildings from the 1800’s featured by the Wamego Historical Museum and Prairie Town Village.
A brand new aquatic center has taken up residence in Wamego. At the center you can find indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy river, and slides!
The Wamego Country Club boasts one of the top rated golf courses in the state and has been recently expanded. Grab your clubs and play a round on a nice afternoon!
There are plenty of places in and around Wamego where you can fish, camp, boat, and hike! You can throw a line in at the pond in City Park or take a drive to the Kansas River, Pottawatomie State Fishing Lake, Jeffrey Energy Wildlife Center Area #2, Tuttle Creek State Park, Rocky Ford Fishing Area, or Fancy Creek Park. Many of these places also have biking and hiking trails, along with places to camp.
There are walking trails, tennis courts, soccer fields, and baseball fields at the Wamego Recreation Complex.

One of the things Wamego is well-known for is the OZ Museum. Take a turn through the world of OZ at The OZ Museum in downtown Wamego. Follow the yellow-brick road through a 100 years of OZ history. After the museum, take a picture at the yellow brick road on Main Street.
Each October, the streets of Wamego halt to host the OZtober Fest in celebration of America’s most well-known fairytale.
Each spring, 1000’s of visitors descend upon Wamego for the annual Wamego Tulip Festival. Over 100 craft vendors attend the festival for the arts and crafts fair! The tulips provide a stunning background for the two-day-long festival.
Come to Wamego to see the #1-rated fireworks show in Kansas! Watch the parade and see the car show before nightfall for a fun day of celebration.
The Columbian Theatre was constructed in 1895, setting the stage for anything from concerts to Broadway musicals. It was renovated in 1994 and continues to host live productions today!
In the Columbian Theatre, there is an art gallery. The Swogger Art Gallery hosts an array of ever-changing art displays ranging from paintings and photographs to sculptures and pottery. The artists represented are both local and regional and all capture the diverse cultural environment of Wamego and the surrounding areas.
Bison roamed the prairies in astonishing numbers at one time and now you can see these magnificent creatures up close. At the Lazy Heart D Ranch, you can take a wagon tour to a pasture where the bison are close enough to feed.
Take the whole family out bowling at Lincoln Street Lanes! Bowling, pool tables, an arcade, dart boards and food- this place has something for everyone.
There are several historical sites and landmarks to visit in Wamego. The Wamego Historical Museum and Prairie Village hosts authentic buildings from the 1800’s and traces the history of Pottawatomie County from the first inhabitants, the Konza and Potawatomie Indians, to the history of the Underground Railroad in the area, and much more.
